Woody Harrelson has criticized Trump before. He once told Esquire magazine about a difficult dinner he had years ago with Trump and Melania. The dinner was set up by his friend, Jesse Ventura, a former governor of Minnesota, who thought Trump might try to get Harrelson to be his running mate in the 2004 election.

So, this is a story from around 2002. My friend Jesse Ventura called me up all excited. Apparently, Donald Trump was thinking about asking Jesse to be his running mate in 2004 – on the Democratic ticket, believe it or not! Jesse asked if I’d go with him to the meeting, and I definitely said yes. We all met at Trump Tower, and Melania was there, though they weren’t married yet. Let me tell you, that dinner was intense – it went on for two and a half hours! The really entertaining part was watching Jesse navigate the whole thing. Trump would seem like he had Jesse cornered, about to get a ‘yes,’ but then Jesse would always manage to wiggle out at the last minute.

The actor described how former President Trump completely took over the conversation during a dinner they all shared. He estimated that while everyone at the four-person table should have had roughly equal speaking time, Trump did most of the talking. According to the actor, Melania Trump barely spoke at all, and even he and the governor only got a small percentage of the conversation. He said it became so one-sided that he had to step outside for a break before returning to listen to Trump continue dominating the discussion.

I’ve been hearing about Woody Harrelson’s experience having dinner with Trump, and it sounds…intense. Apparently, Trump just talked the whole time, and nobody else really got a word in edgewise. It’s not surprising, honestly, considering Woody’s already said he’s not a big fan and has been pretty vocal about his issues with Trump, both when they’ve met and publicly.
