Pixar has released the trailer for “Toy Story 5,” reuniting Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and all our favorite toys on the big screen after a seven-year gap since “Toy Story 4.” The movie tackles a modern question: how do toys fit into kids’ lives when they spend so much time using digital devices?
The trailer shows Woody, now wearing a poncho, and Buzz teaming up again—this time to save Bonnie from her new smart tablet. They’re joined by their friends Jessie, Forky, Slinky Dog, Hamm, Trixie, and a whole bunch of other Buzz Lightyears to prevent technology from dominating kids’ playtime. The movie looks like a fun and exciting adventure with a message about how technology affects childhood.
The movie brings back most of the original voice actors, including Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, as well as Joan Cusack, Blake Clark, and Tony Hale. New additions like Greta Lee and Conan O’Brien bring exciting new voices to the film.
Andrew Stanton, who has a long history with Pixar, directed and wrote the movie. He explains that it’s not just a story of good versus evil, but rather an exploration of what happens when toys risk becoming outdated. According to Stanton, “It’s not simply about fighting against new technology, but about how children’s play habits evolve and what that means for the toys they love.”

I’m so excited for “Toy Story 5!” It’s going to be interesting to see what happens after Woody decided to live his own life at the end of the last movie and left Bonnie’s room. I’m really curious to see how that change affects the story and what adventures everyone gets up to now that Woody isn’t around!
Pixar is having a successful year, with “Inside Out 2” earning over $1.5 billion worldwide in 2024. They also have the original film “Hoppers” coming out in March, and “Toy Story 5” is set to be a major event for the studio in 2026. The movie will hit theaters on June 19th.
The latest trailer confirms Pixar is still delivering movies that are both entertaining and emotionally resonant, while also exploring important ideas. The film seems poised to thrill existing fans and offer a relevant perspective on growing up in today’s digital world.
