As a seasoned gamer with decades of patiently waiting for AAA titles to grace our screens, I must say, I find myself once again in the familiar position of eager anticipation, albeit tinged with a touch of resignation. The announcement of the Wonder Woman game by Monolith Productions was a beacon of hope in the gaming landscape, and yet, here we are, three years later, still waiting.
At the 2021 Game Awards, Monolith Productions, famous for ‘Shadow of Mordor,’ unveiled a Wonder Woman game. However, since that announcement, there hasn’t been much news about it. Recently, Jason Schreier, a writer from Bloomberg, has shared some intriguing details about the project.
In his “Triple Click” podcast, Schreier discussed talking to someone from the game’s production team. They hinted at a targeted release year of 2026, but given this timeframe, it seems quite hopeful. This implies that the possible launch date for the game could be pushed back even further.
Additionally, Schreier was featured on ‘Kinda Funny Games Daily.’ He pointed out that when the game was initially unveiled, it was still in a preliminary phase, with the development process not yet properly initiated. This might account for the delay we experienced.
In a recent turn of events, Wonder Woman has made an appearance in James Gunn’s animated ‘Creature Commandos’ series, which has once again put her in the limelight. Interestingly enough, this new exposure doesn’t appear to slow down the pace of game development.
As an ardent admirer, I must share some disappointing news: Despite the announcement of the Wonder Woman game about three years back, it seems our anticipation may stretch longer than expected. The initial 2026 launch date now appears unrealistic. It’s looking more like we’ll be waiting several additional years to get our hands on this highly-anticipated title.
