According to the latest information, James Gunn is speeding up the production process for a fresh instalment of Wonder Woman at DC Studios.
It’s also added that a Superman sequel announcement does not appear to be imminent.
According to a report from Variety, the latest update on the matter aligns with recent statements made by Gunn and Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav regarding the significant role of Wonder Woman within the DC Universe. However, Variety doesn’t provide extensive details.
It seems that Warner Bros. holds potential for sequels with Corenswet and Brosnahan, but there’s no sign of an announcement coming soon. On the contrary, insiders reveal that the studio is prioritizing the development of a “Wonder Woman” film instead.
James Gunn has verified that work is underway for Wonder Woman, but the project won’t be approved unless the script meets high standards of quality.
In his congratulations for the impressive box office debut of ‘Superman’, Zaslav also mentioned that Gunn has a daring ten-year strategy. He further stated, “The vision of DC is unmistakable, the enthusiasm is tangible, and I can’t help but feel thrilled about what lies ahead.
As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that our CEO has highlighted Wonder Woman as one of the cornerstone characters and valuable assets in the expansion of the DC Universe. This esteemed group also includes Superman, Batman, and Supergirl, making it an even more exciting journey for us fans!
There’s currently no confirmed release date, creative team, or chosen actress for the upcoming Wonder Woman project, but Adria Arjona, known for her role in Andor, has gained attention among fans as a potential casting choice.
In an interview with Extra, Gunn stated, “I’m following Adria on Instagram, and people commented, ‘If he followed her, she must be Wonder Woman.’ She certainly would make a fantastic Wonder Woman.
Gunn went on to say, “Seven years ago, she starred in a film I directed. Our friendship began back then, and I’ve been keeping tabs on her ever since, not just recently.
Arjona has also said she would loves Gunn, as he cast in her The Belko Experiment.
In an interview with CinemaBlend back in April, Arjona expressed her affection for James Gunn, stating, “He played a significant role in my career by giving me my debut film, which was also my first studio project. Therefore, I hold a great debt of gratitude towards him.
In the DCEU, Gal Gadot portrayed Wonder Woman under Zack Snyder’s direction. However, when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DCU, they decided not to proceed with “Wonder Woman 3.” As a result, Gal Gadot will no longer be reprising her role as Wonder Woman.
