The director shared that securing actors for the film began in New York City, where he found inspiration to write the script. In an interview, Watts admitted, “I was foolish. I wrote the script; I could’ve written it from anywhere, anytime. But I chose to write it at night in New York.
In addition, the director expressed, “I reside here, I have a strong affinity for New York, and I’ve been filming Spider-Man films that were intended to take place in New York, but were filmed in Atlanta instead, for the past seven years.
At the time, I discovered that Pitt and Clooney were searching for their next ventures in film. Upon reading the script, we both found Watt’s concept intriguing. The director expressed, “This idea is one that doesn’t quite gel unless it’s these two bringing it to life. That was its origin.” He also mentioned, “What sets this apart is the rare chance to present such an idea directly to them.
In the film, Brad Pitt and George Clooney take on the roles of problem solvers, or “Fixers,” who are summoned to the same location by Amy Ryan. Their mission is to conceal a crime that has taken place. Despite having different methods for managing their tasks, they’re compelled to collaborate in order to complete it successfully.
As suggested in the movie summary, “A professional is hired to conceal a major crime. However, his evening takes an unforeseen turn as he is compelled to collaborate with an unexpected partner, causing chaos in the process.
