As a seasoned gamer and horror enthusiast with a soft spot for werewolves, I can confidently say that the trailer for Universal Pictures’ Wolf Man has me both excited and slightly apprehensive. The teaser doesn’t give us a clear look at the creature yet, but the Halloween Horror Nights design left many fans less than thrilled. Fingers crossed that the final version in the movie will be a sight to behold!
Werewolves are some of the best creatures in horror. A person who can turn into a hairy and howling creature ready to rip apart anything in its path is indeed a vibe. The werewolf is just as much of a scary story and Halloween staple as vampires, witches, and goblins. So there’s no surprise that there are still movies telling the story of a person (usually a man) who transforms into something deadly and dangerous. That’s what we get in the first teaser trailer for Universal Pictures’ Wolf Man. I really wish it was coming out in October instead of January because it gives Halloween energy.
Before the unveiling of this clip, Universal had previously showcased the design of the werewolf in “Wolf Man” during Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando. However, the response was not overwhelmingly positive as fans had hoped that the depicted design wouldn’t be a faithful representation of the creature in the film itself. Regrettably, the teaser trailer for “Wolf Man” does not offer a clear glimpse at the beast. We can only hope for a better look when the full trailer is released.
Here’s the synopsis for Wolf Man:
Christopher Abbott, nominated for a Golden Globe and known for his roles in “Poor Things” and “It Comes at Night,” stars as Blake, a San Francisco husband and father. When his father, who lived in a secluded rural Oregon home, disappears and is presumed dead, Blake inherits the property. His marriage to Charlotte, a successful city woman (Julia Garner, winner of an Emmy for “Ozark” and “Inventing Anna”), is strained. Blake convinces Charlotte to escape the city and visit the inherited home with their daughter, Ginger (Matlida Firth, who has appeared in “Hullraisers” and “Coma”).
As they reach the farmhouse late at night, the family encounters a mysterious beast that attacks them. In a panic, they take shelter inside the home while the creature circles around it. Throughout the night, however, Blake starts acting oddly and changes into something unfamiliar. Faced with this, Charlotte must decide whether the horror within their home poses a greater threat than the danger lurking outside.
