As a big DC fan, I’m getting increasingly worried about the Supergirl movie. Everything I’m hearing sounds…off. And now, reports are surfacing that Seth Rogen is involved, which, honestly, doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. It’s starting to feel like this project is heading for trouble, and it’s really disappointing to hear.
The first trailer for Supergirl has received a lot of negative feedback, quickly gaining more dislikes on YouTube in just one day than the Superman trailer did in six months.

Trailer Criticism and Fan Reaction
The trailer feels very much like James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy films, with a similar comedic style, 80s soundtrack, and even Supergirl dressed and accessorized – complete with a Sony Walkman – in a comparable way.
Comic book fans are also unhappy with the villain’s portrayal, feeling it was changed too much to match the movie’s lighthearted style.

Test Screening Reports Sound Bad
Early screenings of Supergirl haven’t gone well either. Viewers generally didn’t react positively, and the villain is being described as not very impressive.
Jeff Sneider is reporting on a test screening for Supergirl, and unfortunately, the feedback wasn’t good. It sounds like the movie is facing significant problems.

Seth Rogen Cameo Rumors
I’m so excited to hear that Milly Alcock’s Supergirl and David Corenswet’s Superman will actually be speaking Kryptonian on screen! Apparently, though, there’s going to be a bit of a language barrier – it makes me wonder if Superman himself even knows the language anymore? It’s a really interesting detail that adds a lot to the story, I think.
Sneider also adds that Seth Rogen has a cameo role in Supergirl as a voice actor.
The website ComicBookMovie is jokingly suggesting Seth Rogen could voice Krypto the Superdog. Their idea is based on the fact that the Supergirl story is taking place in a universe inspired by the ‘Red Son’ storyline, and they wonder if that alternate universe will also change Krypto’s origin.
The idea feels a bit strange – it’s hard to believe the Red Son would make Krypto more intelligent or give him the ability to talk to people, since he can’t normally speak. But this is James Gunn’s DC Universe, so anything is possible!
More than likely woke Seth Rogen is providing the voice of a goofy alien is my guess.

Supergirl release info
Supergirl lands in theaters on June 26, 2026, directed by Craig Gillespie.
I’m so excited about the cast! We’ve got Milly Alcock leading the way, and Jason Momoa is going to be amazing as Lobo. Eve Ridley is playing Ruthye Marye Knoll, and Matthias Schoenaerts will be the villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills. Plus, Emily Beecham is Alura In-Ze and David Krumholtz is playing Zor-El – seriously, what a lineup!
When a dangerous new enemy attacks someone Supergirl cares about, she teams up with a surprising ally for a massive, galaxy-spanning quest for revenge and to bring justice.
