On August 9th (Friday), Disney shared an early peek at the eagerly awaited continuation of Wizards of Waverly Place, called Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. In a brief behind-the-scenes video lasting about two minutes, Selena Gomez and David Henrie from the original series offer fans a sneak preview of what’s happening on the set of the follow-up show.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t hide my excitement for the upcoming Disney series! The story revolves around me, Justin Russo (Henrie), who’ve been trying to live a regular, mortal life with my family. But when my sister Alex brings Billie to me in need, everything changes! It doesn’t take long for me to grasp that I must brush off the dust on my magical skills to guide this young wizard-in-training. In the first sneak peek, Gomez – who portrayed Alex in the initial series – can be heard saying, “This is where it all began. We’re home,” as she warmly welcomes Henrie in an embrace. For now, Selena Gomez is only confirmed to appear in the pilot episode of the rebooted Disney show. The actor explains, “We aimed to rekindle the magic for a fresh audience.”
In the pilot’s opening scenes, the fresh characters are under Billie’s control, as she seems to relish her magic powers just a tad excessively.
