During a chat with Indie Wire, the filmmaker shared his views about potentially bringing Johnny Depp back to the silver screen.
During an interview with the media outlet, the director expressed that he is not interested in creating sequels for some particular movies.
He added, “I wasn’t keen on creating a follow-up since it seemed like a standalone piece. For me, The Nightmare Before Christmas was also meant to be a single story. Some stories work best when they remain independent, and in my opinion, that’s one of those.
In a subsequent statement, the director expressed his disinterest in creating films featuring characters with pointed objects instead of fingers. He then addressed the interviewer’s question about rehiring Johnny Depp, to which he replied, “I can certainly see that happening.
Moreover, Burton stated, “I seldom think, ‘I’ll cast this and that actor.’ Instead, it’s primarily about the project at hand. That’s the essence of cinema – it’s a collaborative effort where you exchange thoughts with those around you.
The last collaboration between Burton and Depp was on the 2012 movie Dark Shadows.
