Will There Be A Blade Movie Starring Wesley Snipes? Viral Poster Debunked

As a lifestyle expert with over two decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I must say that the Blade franchise has been through quite the rollercoaster ride! It’s fascinating to witness the evolution of such iconic characters and the constant changes they undergo.

On July 14, 2024, a Facebook page named YODA BBY ABY posted a movie poster for the upcoming Blade film. The image featured Wesley Snipes, hinting at his return to the character of Blade. Marvel Studios’ Blade, starring Wesley Snipes as the famed vampire slayer, is set to hit theaters in July 2025, as stated in the caption. The text read: “BLADE IS BACK!!! WESLEY SNIPES!!! Marvel Studios presents Blade, with Wesley Snipes portraying the legendary vampire hunter once more in an exciting new installment.”

The post also mentions that Blade has a new enemy threatening the balance between human beings and supernatural powers several decades after his first trilogy. The piece is expected to be shown at movies this July 2025.

Although fans were excited, there hadn’t been an official confirmation from Marvel about Mahershala Ali being Blade. However, at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, it was revealed that a poster circulating, suggesting a new movie with Wesley Snipes as the star, was actually false according to fact-checking site Snopes.

In three Blade movies, including Blade: Trinity from 2004, Mr. Snipes decided not to continue with the franchise’s upcoming projects. At one point, Bassam Tariq was chosen to direct the new chapter, but he stepped down in June 2024, and Yann Demange followed suit shortly after. Mahershala Ali was confirmed as Blade for phase four by Marvel back in 2019; however, the production has faced numerous setbacks and adjustments since then.

Last summer, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that I’ve been revisiting often, Snipes mentioned that over the years, we’ve shared some profound discussions, as well as some light-hearted ones. Initially, I felt it was time for me to step away from those conversations, but I’m happy about it. After all, I was part of three movies from them, and I believe they were quite impressive. Nothing to scoff at… Now, we venture into new territories, aiming for even greater achievements.

The upcoming Blade movie was initially set to begin production in November 2022 and hit theaters in November 2023. However, Disney has delayed it to a release date in November 2025 due to some adjustments. As reported by Vulture, this film is now included in Marvel’s Phase Six lineup.

Despite not being involved in the latest Blade production, Mr. Snipes made a brief appearance as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine. He expressed his surprise to Entertainment Weekly about the project’s realization, stating, “I didn’t think we could make it happen. I didn’t believe it was possible for Marvel or Disney to be on board with it, especially given that they had Mahershala cast for the next iteration of the character.”

In the role of a devoted fan, I can’t help but share insights about the evolution of the Blade franchise. According to a report published in November 2023 by Variety, this iconic series has undergone script revisions and faced some challenges in terms of creative direction. A fascinating twist that surfaced in this report is the possibility of Mahershala Ali sharing the limelight with three other leads, all of whom are women. This intriguing scenario certainly adds an exciting layer to the anticipation surrounding the Blade franchise’s future developments.

With excitement building for Wesley Snipes reprising his role as Blade, the upcoming films are set to feature Mahershala Ali and significant changes to the initial plot of the storyline.
