Drawing inspiration from tales within her own family, particularly those shared by her grandmother, this book serves as a poignant connection to that historical time and location for Brown.
Brown’s dream of turning her idea into a movie seems more tangible now. She’s set to star and produce the film version, and it appears that she might be working with one of the industry’s top screenwriters, Anthony McCarten, who has penned films like The Theory of Everything and Bohemian Rhapsody. Reports indicate that they are in the final stages of negotiation for him to write the adaptation.
Previously, she mentioned that her production company, PCMA, would transform the novel into a screenplay. She expressed, “Absolutely, I will adapt it. That was my plan all along. Given my love for storytelling, of course, yes, this serves as an excellent starting point.” Undoubtedly, this statement clearly showcases her enthusiasm for narrating tales and her dedication to producing more content.

Little did I know that these stories, woven into my dreams as a child, were based on real-life events from her harrowing childhood during World War II. It wasn’t until later in life that the significance of these tales truly hit me: “Then I slowly realized that these were things that happened to her in her childhood, during World War Two.”
Brown’s dedication to significant roles focused on women is evident throughout her career. She expresses, “I am strongly drawn to parts that resonate with me and carry a more female-centric theme.” Her unwavering determination to inspire comes across in the roles she chooses and undoubtedly underlies her decision to adapt her novel for the silver screen.
In its latest release, Damsel proved successful; it stayed in Netflix’s top 10 for six uninterrupted weeks and garnered an impressive 50 million weekly views at one point. By 2025, Millie Bobby Brown will finish her fifth and final season of Stranger Things – a role that has earned her Emmy nominations twice already. Remarkably, she is just twenty years old. Upcoming projects include The Electric State, a science-fiction adventure directed by the Russo brothers, as well as the Godzilla franchise.
