On February 9, 2025, Selena Gomez announced her intention to concentrate solely on honing her acting abilities for movies and TV series following her latest venture. “I feel that filmmaking, being surrounded by such gifted individuals who have only inspired me positively… I’m not sure,” the actress from The Dead Don’t Die expressed.
She added, “It’s going to be very hard for me to ever go back to music after this.”
For individuals unaware, it’s been a while since Selena Gomez showcased her acting talents on screen following her voice-over part in the 2022 film Hotel Transylvania 4.
In the film, the actress who sings “Love You Like a Love Song” (Emilia Pérez) is joined by Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofia Gascón in the cast.
Speaking about the accolades during the awards period, despite facing significant controversy surrounding Sofia Gascón’s social media activity, the movie managed to secure Zoe Saldaña, aged 46, victories at this year’s Golden Globe Awards and Critics Choice Awards. Notably, it has also garnered 13 nominations for the Academy Awards.
Remarkably, the film received the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival when it was first screened in May 2024. According to Selena Gomez, she saw the movie during its premiere at Cannes and subsequently watched it again with her loved ones.
