As a lifestyle expert with years of observing royal families and celebrity dynamics, I must say the ongoing saga between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the British royal family is as captivating as any soap opera. The latest news about their exclusion from the traditional Christmas celebration at Sandringham is yet another chapter in this intriguing tale.
It has been reported by a source from People that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be joining the rest of the royal family at Sandringham for Christmas this year, as they haven’t received an invitation to take part in the usual holiday celebrations.
In 2018, which was also the year he got married to his actress wife from Suits, was the last time Prince Harry enjoyed a family Christmas celebration.
The rejection, nevertheless, wasn’t unexpected because the royal household has persistently kept their distance from Harry (aged 40) and Meghan (aged 43), ever since they departed the UK in 2021. Moreover, they were left out of the Trooping the Colour event that took place in June last year as well.
A month ago, Harry had returned to his homeland for the 10-year celebration of the Invictus Games, which he supports. However, despite being back in the UK, he didn’t get together with his father, King Charles III, who is currently fighting cancer.
According to Page Six, it was mentioned previously that Harry’s efforts to arrange a meeting with the monarch were declined by his office due to scheduling conflicts.
Hugo Vickers, who specializes in royal matters, previously commented that if King Charles III desired to meet with Prince Harry, he could have made time effortlessly, since no parent is ever truly so engrossed as to neglect seeing their child. Consequently, the fact that they didn’t connect during such a unique opportunity carried significant weight.
In February, Harry made a hasty trip from California to the United Kingdom following the disclosure of his father’s cancer diagnosis. It was then that he met Charles again. Their encounter, it seems, was quite fleeting, lasting approximately half an hour.
In 2021, it was first revealed that there were tensions among the royal family members, as Harry and Meghan openly discussed these issues during an interview with Oprah Winfrey. During this conversation, they alleged that the British nobility had failed to address Meghan’s requests for support regarding her mental health, and that a private discussion about their unborn child’s possible skin color had taken place.
At one point, a royal insider shared with Page Six their belief that the couple aimed to shake up the monarchy. They further expressed confidence that Prince Harry had absolutely no regrets about his choice.
Additionally, the release of Harry’s memoir titled Spare shed light on the strained bond he shares with his family, particularly with his brother, Prince William.
In the book, Harry alleges that the Prince of Wales physically attacked him and mistreated Meghan Markle, claims which William has refuted.
The brothers were last seen together with their spouses after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, which occurred on September 22nd.
Harry, Meghan, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, have been living in California – their base after they left the United Kingdom.
