Will NHL 25 be available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that I find myself both excited and slightly bewildered by the announcement of NHL 25. The anticipation is palpable, the hype is real, but the question on everyone’s lips – or rather controllers – remains unchanged: “Which consoles will NHL 25 grace?”

As a diehard hockey enthusiast, I’ve found myself engrossed in a flurry of discussions surrounding NHL 25 since late August. The unveiling of the Cover Athletes for this edition and the commencement of pre-orders have set the stage, leaving us with plenty of unanswered queries about the upcoming game. EA Sports promises to shed light on these mysteries in the coming months. One question that fans ask every year has already been addressed.

Year after year, one common query about virtually every video game is: “On which platforms can we expect to find NHL 25?” Indeed, this inquiry has also surfaced regarding NHL 25 itself.

There will be no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of NHL 25 this year

As previously mentioned, NHL 25’s pre-orders are currently active. Upon visiting the pre-order page, you might notice that the game can only be purchased for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S systems. In essence, this implies that when NHL 25 is released, it will exclusively be available on these two platforms. So, if you’ve been considering upgrading to either of these consoles, it’s essential to do so if you wish to play NHL 25.

This action taken by EA Sports seems quite predictable, given the hints towards the end of last year. There were whispers that NHL 24 might be the final installment on all four consoles, and indeed, those rumors proved accurate.

This action is advantageous for the franchise since it allows EA Sports to devote exclusive efforts towards the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. In other words, they can fully concentrate on these platforms to ensure an outstanding user experience is delivered.

This will not affect Crossplay by any stretch

In the upcoming NHL 25, crossplay will remain a feature, but it will only function between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S systems. This crossplay functionality will be accessible at the game’s launch and can be utilized in all online-based World of Chel and Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) modes right from the start.

If you haven’t jumped your console into action for the game yet, now could be an ideal moment. NHL 25 isn’t the only series that has taken this leap, and it won’t be the last. We are currently in a period where making the console jump is essential if you want to keep up with certain franchises.

NHL 25 will be available worldwide on October 4 and on September 27 for those with early access.
