Will Jurassic World: Rebirth Acknowledge Fan-Favorite Spinoffs Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory

As a diehard Jurassic World fan who has witnessed the evolution of this captivating franchise since its inception, I must admit that the upcoming installment, Jurassic World: Rebirth, has me absolutely thrilled! The tantalizing plot details and the star-studded cast have me on the edge of my seat.

Should you be seeking a film series that keeps viewers at the brink of excitement, look no further than Jurassic World. This franchise has consistently delivered one blockbuster after another, with the latest installment being Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World: Dominion, which hit theaters in 2022.

In June of next year, Jurassic World: Dominion, the latest installment in the series, will be making its premiere. Recently, Universal unveiled the title, storyline, and some initial images for the fourth film, which is being directed by Gareth Edwards.

Five years following the events of 2022’s Jurassic World: Dominion, the storyline delves into a sci-fi action-packed adventure where several characters embark on a quest to retrieve DNA samples from Earth’s largest surviving dinosaurs. This plot detail has sparked curiosity about the franchise’s continuity, specifically whether it will incorporate the animated spinoffs, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.

2020 saw the debut of Camp Cretaceous on Netflix. This show centered around a gang of teenagers who got stuck on Isla Nublar coincidentally amidst the 2015 Jurassic World events. Over its five seasons, these campers evolved into a bonded family, battling both dinosaurs and human dangers throughout their journey.

As for Chaos Theory, the series first debuted on Netflix earlier this year with a jump of six years after the events of Camp Cretaceous. It followed the reunion of Camp Fan, who investigated a potential murder of one of their members as young adults.

According to showrunner Scott Kreamer, the production delays forced them to adjust the timeline of the series. Originally set five years after Dominion, the first season of Chaos Theory is actually a year later than the events depicted in Rebirth, which places it six years after Dominion instead. Additionally, while Chaos Theory features dinosaurs roaming across the United States, it’s important to note that, as established in Rebirth, Earth no longer supports dinosaur life outside of isolated equatorial regions due to the changes in its environment.

In the initial season of Chaos Theory, the main focus was on the reunion at Camp Fan, implying that the ensemble likely won’t feature in the live-action scenes of Rebirth. Yet, if the forthcoming film incorporates elements from the two animated series, it would enhance the overall unity and continuity within the Jurassic World franchise.

On July 2, 2025, we can expect the premiere of Jurassic World: Renascence. This movie features an impressive lineup of stars, including Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein.
