Will Jimmy Kimmel Not Return To Host Oscars? Find Out As Talk Show Star Opens Up About His Future Plans

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the intricacies of the entertainment industry, I must say that Jimmy Kimmel‘s decision to step back from hosting the Oscars and focus more on his talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, is a testament to his wisdom and understanding of his own limitations. Having been in the business for over two decades, Kimmel has mastered the art of balancing multiple responsibilities while maintaining the quality of his work.

Jimmy Kimmel is contemplating his role as a host in the changing world of television programs. On September 8, he received an Emmy Award for Exceptional Variety Special (Host) in recognition of his hosting duties at the 2023 Oscars.

Jimmy Kimmel, an expert in commanding the stage at the Academy Awards, has turned down the opportunity to host the Oscars in 2025. Similarly, comedian John Mulaney also declined an invitation from ABC Network to perform at Hollywood’s grandest awards show. Kimmel chose to reject the role because of the extensive time required for preparing his sets and performances.

In an interview for Politickin Podcast, the popular TV host admitted that the Oscar rehearsals often conflicted with his talk show, leading to a noticeable drop in its quality. Kimmel further explained, “It’s challenging. It requires a lot of effort, and unfortunately, my nightly show takes a hit when I’m immersed in preparing for the Oscars. In other words, during the Oscar season, I’m more preoccupied with the Oscars, which means less attention for the show.

Additionally, he mentioned, “I simply chose not to handle that this time around. It was excessively burdensome last year. As a result, I kept postponing everything until after the Oscars, and then I had to fulfill all the commitments I made after the Oscars.

Jimmy Kimmel has been the host for the Academy Awards on four occasions, emulating renowned figures such as Ellen DeGeneres, Billy Crystal, and Whoopi Goldberg in this role.

Jimmy Kimmel has been linked to Jimmy Kimmel Live! starting from 2003. This long-time host and comedian has garnered acclaim for the unique structure of the show, and moreover, ABC’s support has helped it become one of the longest-running TV programs in existence.

Despite relinquishing his role as the Oscar host, Kimmel continues to stay engaged with his popular talk show.

Contrarily, NBC declared on a Friday that The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon will no longer broadcast fresh episodes every weekday. Amused by this development, Kimmel remarked, “We have a group chat among all the late-night hosts, and we sent our congratulations to Jimmy Fallon for getting an extra day off.” He jested, “There’s no future in late-night,” causing the other podcasters to erupt in laughter.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights on ABC, and episodes are also available for streaming on Hulu.
