As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I have come to appreciate the profound impact that genuine friendships can have on one’s life. Will Ferrell’s bond with Harper Steele serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of maintaining strong connections, especially through challenging times.
As a devoted friend myself, much like Will Ferrell, I cherish my relationships above all else and hold onto them through thick and thin. On Sunday, during the premiere of his documentary, Josh Greenbaum, the director, shared a heartfelt story about how deeply loyal Ferrell – the Barbie movie actor – is to his friendships, leaving me moved to tears.
During the premiere of the documentary at London’s BFI Southbank, attendees had a chance to interact with both the film’s director and its stars, among them being Harper Steele.
After the movie screening, the director shares insights into the filmmaking process and explains his involvement in telling the tale of two companions embarking on a journey by car.
Discussing the movie, Greenbaum shared with viewers, “Our aim was simply to depict a chat between two friends, keeping it as intimate and casual as possible, so that the audience can hear me fumble through posing these questions to my friend.” He continued, “She lets me make those blunders and motivates me to keep asking.
As the discussion progressed, both the audience and Ferrell found themselves shedding tears when the filmmaker spoke highly of Ferrell’s acting skills and his close bond with Steele, a connection that was clear not only in the movie but also off-camera.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, allow me to share a heartfelt sentiment: I hold a profound affection for this individual. It’s been an extraordinary privilege to convey this emotion through the medium of film. I fervently wish his exceptional talent continues to be celebrated, as he has consistently spread positivity and light in our world.
In response to the director’s speech, the Elf actor dabbed away his tears and exclaimed, “That’s just Nonsense!” which sent the audience into fits of laughter.
Before the movie was available for the audience to stream, the documentary had been screened at the Sundance Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, and Telluride Film Festial.
In summary, the movie’s storyline revolves around Will Ferrell discovering his friend of three decades is transitioning into a woman. They then plan a long journey across the country, aiming to navigate this significant change in their relationship while providing an up-close look at their friendship and the process of transitioning.
The documentary will hit Netflix on September 27.
