Will Good Night World’s Uru Okabe Resume Yajin Manga By End Of 2024? Here’s What Report Says

As a dedicated manga enthusiast with a soft spot for complex family dynamics and virtual reality escapades, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of Uru Okabe’s masterpiece, Yajin. Having grown up on Okabe’s previous work, Good Night World, I can confidently say that their storytelling is as captivating as ever.

By the close of this year, it’s anticipated that the Yajin manga by Uru Okabe will return to Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app. At present, Okabe is diligently working on the manga which was put on hold in 2018. Initially, Okabe introduced their manga on both Shogakukan’s Manga ONE and Ura Sunday platforms back in May 2018.

The first volume was published in August and the second in December 2018. The prequel, Good Night World End, was launched in August 2023. The first volume was published on October 12, and the third volume is also set to be released. Okabe launched the Good Night World manga on the Ura Sunday service in 2016, and the manga ended in its fifth and final volume in March 2017.

The narrative of Good Night World centers around a troubled family of four: reclusive video game enthusiast Taichiro Arima, his ambitious sibling Asuma, their distant father Kojiro, and their disheveled mother Sayaka. Struggling with their everyday lives, they find solace in Planet, a virtual reality MMORPG, where they interact with other players, form alliances, engage in conflicts with rival guilds, embark on quests, battle creatures, and ultimately strive to be the first to defeat the ultimate boss creature called the Black Bird of Happiness.

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience in virtual worlds, I can confidently say that the dynamics within The Akabane Family, as portrayed in this scenario, are strikingly reminiscent of real-life family units. Just like any other family, they have their own set of rules, their own struggles, and their own unique bonds. What sets them apart, however, is the fact that they were formed within a simulated environment.

As an ardent enthusiast, I find myself captivated by Netflix’s portrayal of the digital saga unfolding within the game realm of Planet. Here, a formidable quartet of gamers reign supreme under the moniker The Akabane Family. In this virtual universe, they form an unconventional family bond that seems to elude them in their actual lives. Unbeknownst to them, these four individuals are fragments of a once whole family, now fractured by life’s complexities.

1. An older brother who seldom leaves home, contrasted with a younger brother striving for success. A father whose children fail to admire him and a mother preoccupied with things other than her household chores. They experience the coldness of their biological family, and they are unaware that the affection from their online community is fleeting. Above all, they remain oblivious to the fact that they form a genuine family.

In the digital world of Planet, the narrative revolves around the Akabane Family’s adventures, encompassing battles with monsters, rivalries with other guilds, and intrigues surrounding the ultimate goal, Black Bird. However, an unexpected twist unfolds as the story begins to intertwine with the lives of this actual family in reality.

Starting from August 1, 2023, and running through May 21, 2024, a prequel series called “Good Night World End” was serialized on the MangaOne platform. These prequel installments were subsequently compiled into three tankōbon volumes that were published between October 2023 and August 2024.

On July 31, 2023, it was revealed that an innovative adaptation of a web animation titled “Project X” would be produced by NAZ and helmed by director Katsuya Kikuchi. The scripts are being penned by Michiko Yokote, the characters designed by Rena Okuyama, and the music composed by Takatsugu Wakabayashi. This series made its debut on Netflix on October 12, 2023. The opening theme tune is “Black Crack” performed by VTuber Kuzuha from Nijisanji, while the closing theme is “Salvia” sung by Nornis, a vocal group consisting of Nijisanji members Machita Chima and Inui Toko.
