3 years after the infamous slapgate incident with Will Smith, Chris Rock discusses the event during a recent interview at the Annual Vanity Fair Oscar Party. When asked about potentially returning to host the Academy Awards following his joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, Rock addressed this topic in the conversation.
In a chat with a media outlet, comedian Rock expressed that he’s been embracing forgiveness in his life. He said, “Here’s what I believe: the unhappiest individuals on this planet are those who can’t find it within themselves to forgive.” He continued, “It’s not just about others; self-forgiveness is important too. So, you never know!
After the occurrence, the man who starred in “Hitch” was prohibited from attending the Oscars for a decade. Additionally, he issued a public apology towards Rock, whom he had slapped during the Oscar ceremony’s live broadcast.
Simultaneously, the Madagascar native remarked, “I dwell in the act of forgiving.” He further added, “Authentic love originates from the act of forgiving.
Regarding the 97th annual Oscar Awards, Conan O’Brien stepped up to the stage, delighting the crowd with his humor and wit. Impressed by the talk show host’s performance, Chris Rock commented, “I found it outstanding, fantastic. They should consider having him host every year.
In a humorous exchange during the event, O’Brien playfully criticized Adam Sandler for attending in gym shorts and a hoodie. Amusing the crowd, Sandler himself joined in on the fun by quipping that nobody had taken notice of his attire until O’Brien brought it up.
