In the forthcoming movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday”, Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor in the Marvel universe. Previously speculated rumors about this film possibly marking the end of Hemsworth’s journey as the mighty Thor have been addressed by the actor himself, confirming that he will continue to embody the God of Thunder.
Earlier, the film actor uploaded a video on his YouTube account to mark his comeback to the movie series. Unintentionally, this video ignited discussions and theories about whether Thor might be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hemsworth explained that the video was created as a gesture of appreciation, with no other intentions.
Chris Hemsworth reacts to rumors about his viral Thor video
During a chat with a media outlet, Chris Hemsworth addressed speculation about Avengers: Doomsday potentially being his final performance as Thor. Hemsworth clarified, “Truthfully, it wasn’t the plan. In reality, my social media team put together some footage and suggested, ‘This could be interesting. Let’s share some things and show our gratitude.’ And I agreed, ‘Sure, sounds good. It’s been a blast,” referring to fans misunderstanding his montage video.
He also mentioned, “We collaboratively wrote it, then I moved on to another task. However, some folks inquired about it, and one of my colleagues pointed out, ‘Oh dear, we might have given off the wrong vibe.’ There wasn’t any need for damage control as such. Yet, people seemed to overinterpret a small matter.
In a different part of our chat, Chris Hemsworth disclosed that he’s started shooting for the upcoming installment of Thor. Furthermore, he shared that portraying Thor has been the most significant aspect of his professional acting journey.
What can be expected out of Thor in Avengers: Doomsday?
According to Hemsworth’s explanation regarding his character, it’s likely that Thor will show up in movies coming out after Doomsday. Given his long-standing role in the franchise (starting from 2011), Thor might play a significant part in the upcoming film.
Over time, Thor has joined forces with the other Avengers, allowing him to contribute both his wealth of experience and immense power in their battle against Dr. Doom’s wickedness.
Additionally, after a break since their last joint appearance in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr. will team up again on screen.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026.
