Will Céline Dion Perform at Eurovision 2025 After Historic Win 37 Years Ago? Source Reveals ‘We Won’t…’

It’s said that Céline Dion might be discussing a comeback to Eurovision, which has been 37 years since she won and kick-started her international career in the competition.

Based on information from The Sun, the organizers of the upcoming season of the singing competition hope to invite Celine Dion to perform again in May 2025. This event takes place in Switzerland, where over three decades ago, this renowned singer triumphed in the contest.

The executive producers, Reto Peritz and Moritz Stadler, are said to have reached out to Celine Dion’s team about her potential participation at this year’s Eurovision. But it’s important to note that no definite plans have been made due to the ongoing health issues faced by the 56-year-old music legend.

The source from the outlet mentioned that it remains uncertain if she will be ready until a few weeks prior, based on her health condition.

2024 saw Dion disclose in her documentary that her stiff person syndrome posed challenges for her performances, as it impacted her movement and vocal abilities. Yet, she left fans worldwide astounded when she appeared at the Paris Olympics, delivering a heavenly rendition of the French classical song “Hymne a l’amour” (Hymn to Love) before the Eiffel Tower.

At just 20 years old, Dion emerged victorious in the 1988 Eurovision competition representing Switzerland. This marked Switzerland’s final triumph in the contest until 2023 when Nemo’s song “The Code” secured the top spot, marking their win the previous year. Born in 1999, Nemo is a Swiss musician and singer-rapper who identifies as non-binary, making them the first openly non-binary artist to claim victory in this contest. In addition, they are the third performer overall and the first for Switzerland to achieve this feat.

Every year, I simply can’t get enough of the grand spectacle that is Eurovision! Known far and wide for showcasing global superstars on its stage, it has previously hosted legends like Justin Timberlake and Madonna. And with good reason – Eurovision is the undisputed king when it comes to television music competitions, boasting a rich history that spans decades.

This contest takes its cue from Italy’s Sanremo Music Festival and features participating countries submitting unique, live-performed songs. Each country then casts votes to determine the ultimate victor.

1988 saw Celine Dion’s song “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi,” penned by Swizz songwriters, emerge victorious in the Eurovision Song Contest, whereas ABBA’s “Waterloo” triumphed at the 1974 competition.
