Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of sexual harassment, rape, and human trafficking.

This month, Sean “Diddy” Combs is slated to appear in a federal court trial, with his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, potentially testifying. Diddy and Ventura were in a relationship for approximately ten years before their separation, and in 2023, she filed a lawsuit against the music artist alleging sexual assault.

In this rephrased version: Ventura, an indigenous American musician and dancer by trade, filed a complaint against Combs, alleging sexual assault, human trafficking, and battery. Notably, this was the first time anyone had publicly accused the rapper of such misconduct.

In response to the severe allegations made against the artist, his legal team referred to it as an attempt to extort money, or “shakedown.” Contrary to this assertion, the case was actually resolved out of court, with the details of the settlement kept confidential.

Since 2007, these exes have been acquainted, having first been involved romantically. For five years, they were frequently spotted at events together. In 2014, their relationship was officially acknowledged in public. Their relationship had its ups and downs over the years, but they eventually parted ways in 2019.

In relation to the ongoing lawsuit filed by Ventura, it was several months later that the NYPD conducted searches at Diddy Combs’ residences in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami, as reported by TMZ. It is alleged that the musician-dancer may have provided some sort of leads to the officers, potentially facilitating their search of the rapper’s homes.

Additionally, in May 2024, a video appeared online showing Sean Combs (also known as Diddy) engaging in violent behavior towards his former partner. Yet, both the prosecution and defense dismissed the footage, citing concerns about its authenticity and origin.

In addition to Cassie Ventura, it’s anticipated that three more individuals will provide testimonies. The jury selection process is scheduled for Monday, May 5th.
