Will Blake Lively Skip Another Simple Favor Premiere Amid Legal Battle with Justin Baldoni? Here’s What She’s Planning

On Friday evening, Blake Lively will grace the red carpet for the global debut of “Another Simple Favor” at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film and Television Festival in Austin, Texas.

In a follow-up to the 2018 suspenseful movie A Simple Favor, the second installment is set to play at the Paramount Theatre. Director Paul Feig announced that Blake Lively will join her fellow cast members, including Anna Kendrick, Henry Golding, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins, for a special appearance.

Regarding Lively, Feig shared with Variety on Thursday, “Blake is simply outstanding. I adore her more than words can express. She’s a joy to work alongside. She’s an excellent team player. Her thoughts are innovative and she values everyone else’s ideas as well. She’s a true professional.

At SXSW, Lively is making an appearance while continuing to navigate through ongoing legal conflicts with the director of It Ends With Us, Justin Baldoni.

Back in December, I took a stand and reported a case of sexual harassment and retaliation to the California Civil Rights Department, directly against Baldoni. Subsequently, I decided to take legal action against both him and his public relations team, alleging that they orchestrated a defamatory campaign against me.

Baldoni has refuted the allegations and filed legal actions as a response. In January, he initiated a lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloan, charging them with defamation, extortion, and violation of privacy. A trial is set for March 2026.

Feig openly endorsed Lively during their ongoing legal dispute. In February, he extended invitations to both her and Reynolds for the SNL50 anniversary special, where they walked the red carpet as his esteemed guests.

Feig was also seen together again with Anna Kendrick, who once more plays Stephanie Smothers in Another Simple Favor, at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party over the weekend.

In the next installment of the movie, Emily Nelson, played by Lively, continues her narrative following a 20-year prison sentence for murder. This follow-up is set in Italy and boasts a combination of familiar faces like Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Elena Sofia Ricci, Alex Newell, and Allison Janney alongside some fresh talent.
