‘Wicked: For Good’ Outscores ‘Superman’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ in Major Pre-Release Metric

Universal Pictures is having no trouble turning its Broadway hit into another big-screen success.

Tickets for the new movie *Wicked: For Good*, directed by Jon M. Chu, are already breaking records! It’s become Fandango’s top movie for pre-sale tickets in 2025, just after they became available.

According to Fandango, the movie is already selling more advance tickets than *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle*, *Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl*, and *Superman*.

I’m so excited for *Wicked: For Good* to finally come out on November 21st! It’s already making history – I heard it’s one of Fandango’s best ever for first-day ticket pre-sales, which is incredible!

The movie is now among the biggest box office hits, joining films like *Star Wars: The Force Awakens*, *Avengers: Endgame*, *Spider-Man: No Way Home*, and *Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour*. It’s also broken records on Fandango, becoming the best PG-rated movie ever for first-day ticket pre-sales, surpassing *Frozen*, *The Lion King*, and *K-Pop Demon Hunters: Sing-Along Event*.

It’s not surprising that this next installment is doing well. The first *Wicked* movie launched right before Thanksgiving last year and had a record-breaking opening weekend, earning $112.5 million – the highest ever for a film adapted from a Broadway show.

The film earned $473.2 million domestically and $756.4 million around the world. It was also a critical success, receiving ten Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and a nomination for Ariana Grande as Best Supporting Actress. Ultimately, it won two Oscars: one for Costume Design and one for Production Design.

Jerramy Hainline, an executive at Fandango, commented on the high demand for tickets. He explained that, given the success of last year’s *Wicked* and its popularity with audiences globally, it’s expected that fans are eager to purchase tickets for *Wicked: For Good*.

The original movie was a huge success, introducing Wicked to a new audience, and people are really excited to see what happens next in the story on film.
