The trailer for Wicked: For Good, the final installment based on the successful Broadway adaptation, has been released. Continuing from where the 2024 movie ended, the sequel depicts Elphaba and Glinda as bitter adversaries, their actions causing a transformation in the land of Oz due to the repercussions of their decisions.
Elphaba in Exile
In “Wicked: For Good,” Cynthia Erivo reprises her role as Elphaba, who’s been banished and infamously known as the Witch of the West living in the Ozian woods. There, she persists in championing animal rights and unveiling the secrets about the Wizard, portrayed by Jeff Goldblum.

Glinda in the Spotlight
In the magical realm of Oz, I find myself awestruck by Ariana Grande, who embodies Glinda with such grace and charm. Under the watchful eye of Madame Morrible, skillfully portrayed by Michelle Yeoh, Glinda is now the cherished public figure of Goodness. From her resplendent position in Emerald City, she stands as a beacon of tranquility, despite the growing tension between her illustrious status and personal turmoil stemming from her fractured bond with Elphaba.
Rising Conflict and Familiar Faces
As Glinda gets ready to wed Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), friction escalates among the characters. Efforts to mend fences with Elphaba fall short, instead widening rifts and bringing significant repercussions for figures such as Boq (Ethan Slater) and Nessarose (Marissa Bode). The arrival of a girl from Kansas sets in motion a series of events that unravel everything.
Final Showdown
In response to growing public unrest, Elphaba and Glinda find themselves in a final showdown. A bond that once defined their tale, their friendship, now holds the power to either salvage Oz or bring about its destruction.
Returning Cast and Production Team
As a movie reviewer, I’m thrilled to share that in this captivating production, Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James grace the screen as Glinda’s trusted assistants, while the talented Sharon D. Clarke lends her voice to Elphaba’s nurturing caretaker, Dulcibear. Returning at the helm is the visionary director Jon M. Chu, joined once more by producers Marc Platt and David Stone. The esteemed team of Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman also make their presence felt as executive producers and writers in this magical adaptation.
A Record-Breaking Franchise
The original “Wicked” movie garnered a revenue of $750 million and received Oscars for Costume Design and Production Design. It additionally secured 10 nominations, with Best Picture among them. The sequel, titled “Wicked: For Good,” carries on the adaptation of the popular stage musical written by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, derived from Gregory Maguire’s novel.
Wicked: For Good releases November 21.
