Without a shadow of a doubt, Suits LA was widely anticipated ahead of its premiere. Yet, upon airing, viewers seemed to feel that it fell short of their expectations, ultimately leading to its recent cancellation.
It was quite a shock for longtime supporters of the classic series when it was abruptly ended following just one season. To provide some clarity on this situation, an executive from NBC discussed the reasons behind their choice to terminate the show.
Initially, NBC executives considered extending the lackluster run of Suits LA, given their high hopes for a spin-off. However, Jeff Bader, president of planning strategy at NBCUniversal Entertainment, revealed to reporters last weekend that the network felt there was no viable future for Suits LA.
Jeff Bader mentioned that discussing which shows to revive can be challenging, and ‘Suits’ had a limited run, unfortunately, it didn’t strike a chord with audiences as much as anticipated.
He also mentioned that many may suggest various explanations as to why the series failed to continue into a second season. However, he emphasized that the program lacked the ability to expand and thrive on the network in the long run.
Jeff Bader continued by explaining that, when making decisions, the team must take into account the performance of their shows not just on traditional television but also on digital channels.
In a conversation with the media, the head of program planning emphasized their focus on finding shows that exhibit both growth and longevity. Additionally, he mentioned the importance of monitoring which programs are thriving and which are faltering, as well as making tough choices when necessary.
The TV show “Suits” featured Stephen Amell, Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, among others, while also welcoming appearances by cast members from the initial series, such as Gabriel Macht.
