Why Was Love Island Alum Cashel Barnett Arrested in Utah? Everything We Know About Reality Star’s Case So Far

Cashel Barnett, previously recognized from his time on Love Island, has lately been detained for alleged domestic violence. As per the latest news, this former reality TV star is being kept in custody in Utah. On Monday, he was taken into Salt Lake County Jail.

As an ardent admirer, it pains me deeply to share that I’ve learned about the troubling news regarding Barnett. Entertainment Weekly reported this, and it was corroborated by the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Department. He is now confronting two third-degree felony charges for aggravated assault and domestic violence in a child’s presence, as well as two counts of misdemeanor assault. I eagerly await more updates on this unfortunate situation.

On May 9, the contestant from Love Island was taken into custody due to these charges, and a judge ordered his arrest three days after that. Furthermore, Salt Lake County’s Deputy District Attorney, Ronda Woolson, has also issued an arrest warrant without bail for Barnett.

Subsequently, a lethality assessment was carried out involving Cashel Barnett’s ex-partner, who is also the mother of their child. Reports suggest that she felt Barnett could potentially attempt to harm her unless he remained in custody due to these concerns.

Meanwhile, a detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday in the domestic violence case.

In response to the news of the arrest warrant, attorney Andrew K. Deesing for Mr. Barnett promptly hired legal representation and presented himself at Utah’s Third District Court as early as Monday morning.

As per reports, Barnett’s former partner reported the April 10 incident on April 25. She explained that when she was attempting to comfort him with a hug, he pushed her arms aside forcefully. He then followed her into the bedroom, grabbed her by the neck, shoved her onto the bed roughly, and cut off her air supply—all of which occurred in the presence of their child.
