Why Was Lil Durk Arrested? Rapper Found to be Part of Sinister Scheme; Here’s Everything We Know So Far

As a dedicated follower of Lil Durk‘s career, I must admit that his life has been a rollercoaster ride, filled with highs and lows, hits and misses, and most recently, legal entanglements. The news of his arrest on murder-for-hire charges is certainly not what we expected from the Chicago-based rapper who has delivered chart-topping hits like Laugh Now Cry Later and The Bigger Picture.

According to TMZ, rap artist Lil Durk has been arrested in Florida for suspected involvement in a murder-for-hire case. The allegations claim that Durk, along with other members of the Chicago OTF crew, are implicated in the murder of Quando Rondo’s cousin. U.S. Marshals reportedly took Durk into custody on October 24, and he was subsequently detained at Broward County Jail.

Despite officials not revealing specifics about his apprehension, rapper’s attorneys Brian Bieber and Alek Ubieta have affirmed that he was detained by the Marshals. Additionally, they have confirmed that the hip-hop artist will be appearing in federal court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on October 25.

In June of last year, the rapper’s brother, Dontay ‘DThang’ Banks Jr, tragically lost his life in a shooting outside a Chicago nightclub. Subsequently, federal authorities apprehended five members of the OTF gang, suspecting their involvement in the shooting, on charges of planning a murder-for-hire. Reportedly, this crime was carried out as retribution for the rapper King Von’s death that occurred four years ago in Atlanta.

Last November 2020, I tragically lost my life due to gunfire instigated by a companion of Quando, known as Lul Timm, following a dispute. Regrettably, charges against him were initially filed for murder, but subsequently dropped.

It’s not the first brush Lil Durk has had with legal troubles. He’s been involved in five felony cases, four of which stem from his alleged involvement in a shooting that took place in February 2019. In 2019 alone, he was charged with several felonies, including attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, using a firearm during the commission of a felony, and gang-related activities.

Manny Arora, the musician’s lawyer, informed FOX 5 Atlanta that they concluded Mr. Banks had some connection as individuals he associated with were implicated in the shooting. They firmly rejected any involvement for him personally. Upon examining the details, they opted not to bring charges against the detained defendants.

Lil Durk has had a remarkable career and has delivered hits like Laugh Now Cry Later featuring Drake, a J Cole featurette All My Life, and The Bigger Picture, to name a few.
