Why Was Hulk Hogan’s Biopic With Chris Hemsworth Canned? WWE Star Explains

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood and its intricacies, I must say, the saga of the Hulk Hogan biopic is one that leaves me both amused and dismayed. On one hand, it’s fascinating to delve into the world of high-stakes contract negotiations and the complexities they entail – a realm where even giants like Hulk Hogan can trip over seemingly insignificant details.

2019 saw Netflix revealing plans for a biographical movie about the iconic pro-wrestler Hulk Hogan, with Chris Hemsworth slated to portray the Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hall of Famer. Regrettably, this film project did not come to fruition.

Recently, Hulk Hogan himself has spoken out about the matter behind the cancellation of the eagerly awaited project, which left WWE fans feeling let down.

On the PBD Podcast, I found myself nodding in agreement when Patrick Bet-David hinted at Netflix’s potential mistake. I clarified, “Yes, there was indeed a beat missed in the contract,” referring to a timing issue with a payment. I went on to explain how this oversight in the contract ultimately disrupted the production of the film.

Although the project didn’t succeed as planned, Hogan commended the script, calling it “exceptional.” The screenplay was penned by Scott Silver, a well-respected writer who has worked on movies like Joker and The Wolf of Wall Street. For those unaware of Silver’s work, his writing in Hollywood is highly regarded. Hogan noted that Silver had shown faith in the biopic’s script. In fact, Silver told Hogan, “This is the best thing I’ve ever written.

Hogan himself was impressed with the narrative, calling it “really good.”

Additionally, he pointed out that the screenplay carried a somber atmosphere, implying that if the film’s complexity was recognized, it might have been worthy of an Oscar for Chris Hemsworth.

As stated by Hulk Hogan, the biopic was planned to portray his transformation into Hollywood Hogan, a significant phase in his career which also highlighted his move from WWE to WCW. During a recent podcast, Hogan hinted that the movie might have the possibility for a sequel, implying that the story had enough richness and breadth to extend beyond a solitary production.

Talking about Chris Hemsworth, the actor had recently impressed his fans, by voicing the character of Optimus Prime in the action, science fiction movie, Transformers One.

Additionally starring in the film were Brian Tyree Henry, voicing Megatron, and Josh Cooley lending his voice to Skywarp.

In addition to Zoe Saldana as Elita-1, Chris Pine as Optimus Prime, Jeremy Piven as Starscream, and Morgan Freeman as Alpha Trion, other well-known actors lent their voices to the robots in the film.

Additionally, Keegan-Michael Key and Vanessa Liguori joined the cast, portraying characters Bumblebee and Airachnid respectively. Jon Bailey lent his voice to Soundwave, while Evan Michael Lee voiced Jazz in the production.
