As a seasoned researcher who has navigated through countless crypto market fluctuations, I find myself both intrigued and cautious as I analyze the current state of these trending altcoins. The last 24 hours have seen a rollercoaster ride for FUEL, AKUMA, and PENGU, with the former two experiencing significant price drops while the latter held steady.

Over the past day, a series of sell-offs occurred across the cryptocurrency market, causing several alternative coins to reach weekly lows. Consequently, two of the most popular altcoins currently trending have suffered substantial price drops.

Among these two recently launched projects, one has just completed its Token Generation Event (TGE). Meanwhile, one of the top three currently popular altcoins has seen a substantial increase in value. As per CoinGecko, the altcoins trending today are Fuel Network (FUEL), Akuma Inu (AKUMA), and Pudgy Penguins (PENGU).

Fuel Network (FUEL)

As a crypto investor, I’ve recently come across an exciting project named Fuel Network, which operates as an Optimistic rollup on the Ethereum blockchain. The native cryptocurrency of this project is FUEL, and it’s creating quite a buzz in the crypto world today due to its Token Generation Event (TGE). What’s more intriguing is that the Fuel Network team has announced an airdrop of 10% of their total supply for their early adopters. This is definitely a project worth keeping an eye on!

Initially, FUEL was priced at approximately $0.069. But since then, it has dropped by a significant 30.50%, causing its current trading price to be around $0.046. This steep fall may be connected to the overall downturn in altcoins and concerns that the upcoming airdrop could result in heightened selling activity.

Currently, the market value of the Layer-2 project stands at approximately $163.52 million. If there’s more buying interest, its value could potentially rise further. On the other hand, if there are increased sell-offs among recipients receiving their airdrop, it may lead to a continuing downtrend in its value.

Akuma Inu (AKUMA)

Instead of FUEL, Akuma Inu, a meme coin operating on the Binance Smart Chain, is currently gaining popularity among alternative cryptocurrencies because its price has been rising. Specifically in the last 24 hours, the price of AKUMA has surged by 53.60%, primarily driven by increased demand from buyers.

At present, I find myself observing that the current value of AKUMA stands at approximately $0.00023. Should this meme coin maintain its allure and garner further interest, it’s plausible that we may witness a rise in its price.

Keep in mind, AKUMA investors should stay vigilant. Should existing owners decide to cash out their profits, the market trend could shift and potentially cause the altcoin’s value to dip beneath $0.00020.

Pudgy Penguins (PENGU)

Today’s third trending altcoin is PENGU, which are the native tokens associated with the popular Pudgy Penguins NFT collection. On December 18th, PENGU also made headlines among trending cryptocurrencies because of an airdrop that occurred earlier in the week.

Similar to its previous drop, PENGU’s value has once more dipped by 5.50% over the past 24 hours. Currently, the cryptocurrency stands at a price point of $0.032. It seems to be exploring new pricing levels, indicating it’s in a phase of finding its worth.

If more people decide to sell their Pudgy Penguins tokens, its price could drop to around $0.026. But if additional funds enter the crypto market for Pudgy Penguins, its value could potentially rise to $0.040.
