Why Sony Hasn’t Touched Bloodborne in Years

Recently, Shuhei Yoshida, a former executive at PlayStation, expressed his thoughts on why Sony hasn’t developed any new content for ‘Bloodborne‘. In an interview with Kinda Funny Games, he admitted that he often gets asked this question.

Yoshida posits that Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game’s designer, harbors a strong fondness for ‘Bloodborne’. He speculates that Miyazaki may wish to revisit it, but at present, he is engrossed in various other tasks. As per Yoshida, Miyazaki tends to keep ‘Bloodborne’ close to his heart and Sony acknowledges his desire not to delegate its care to others.

From what Miyazaki mentioned earlier, his views align with the idea that all decisions concerning ‘Bloodborne’ belong to Sony. Regardless of the game’s widespread appeal and the fans’ hopes for updates or remakes, there has been no formal announcement regarding any plans in this direction.

Currently, FromSoftware, known for creating ‘Bloodborne’, has been engrossed in various other ventures. Lately, they unveiled ‘Elden Ring Nightreign’, a new multiplayer game within the ‘Elden Ring’ universe, hinting that their main focus has shifted towards developing their latest intellectual property instead of revisiting previous titles.

Although ‘Bloodborne’ continues to be cherished by PlayStation gamers, it appears that any possible updates or follow-ups are being delayed until Miyazaki has time to personally supervise such a venture. For now, we can just cross our fingers and wait for further journeys in Yharnam.
