Katy Perry is preparing herself for an extraordinary journey that will take her beyond Earth, as she’s set to be part of a groundbreaking all-female space mission on the New Shepard rocket by Blue Origin.
Perry is set to team up with renowned CBS host Gayle King, ex-NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights advocate Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and Jeff Bezos’s partner Lauren Sanchez. As reported by the BBC, this will mark the first all-female space mission since Valentina Tereshkova embarked on her historic solo flight in 1963.
Despite not yet disclosing an exact launch date, Blue Origin has confirmed that the NS-31 mission is set to take place this upcoming spring. This uncrewed, 11-minute journey will proceed without any pilots aboard.
The vessel will transport people past the Karman Line, a globally recognized boundary for space. This will be the New Shepard’s 11th manned flight, bringing the total number of passengers it has carried to 52.
