Why is Harrison Ford Not Presenting At The Oscars 2025? Know What Happened To Captain America: Brave New World Star

Actor Harrison Ford has had to withdraw from presenting at the 97th Academy Awards due to a Shingles diagnosis, which he received on Friday. He was initially scheduled to present at the event happening this Sunday, March 2nd, but sadly could not follow through by Saturday morning. At present, Ford is taking rest as advised. This information comes from Entertainment Weekly.

Shingles is an illness brought on by the varicella-zoster virus, which also triggers chickenpox. This virus is responsible for causing a bothersome rash that typically manifests as a row of blisters on the body, according to the Mayo Clinic. However, despite receiving this diagnosis, Ford appears to be in good health.

This month, Ford participated in both the Captain America: Brave New World event and the season two premiere of 1923 in Los Angeles. On the red carpet for 1923, he explained his enthusiasm for working on the Western series. “I’m drawn to its raw intensity, I appreciate the tangible storytelling style, and I enjoy being in natural settings,” he expressed.

Besides commending the show’s traditional filming style, he also noted that “[It] is largely traditional movie-making, with minimal or almost no computer-generated imagery (CGI), just a touch to enhance the scenery. However, it’s truly fundamental, classic storytelling, and I enjoy working on such authentic material.

Over the past weekend, Ford too was present at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards. During the live Netflix broadcast, he playfully disrupted Jessica Williams’ introduction for their show “The Shrinking.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that Ford will be presenting alongside a number of well-known celebrities such as Dave Bautista, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Rachel Zegler, and the Supporting Actress nominee, Zoe Saldaña.

This group includes actors like Cillian Murphy, Emma Stone, and Robert Downey Jr., as well as others such as Whoopi Goldberg, Penélope Cruz, and Halle Berry. Additionally, we have Goldie Hawn, Oprah Winfrey, Selena Gomez, Ben Stiller, Sterling K. Brown, Willem Dafoe, Joe Alwyn, Ana de Armas, Connie Nielsen, and Lily-Rose Depp.
