Why is Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld Calling for Kevin Feige’s Removal as Marvel Studios CEO After Captain America Stint?

Lately, Marvel movies haven’t been as popular among viewers compared to their previous releases, and this includes the productions from Sony as well as those within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Following the debut of Captain America: Brave New World, Rob Liefeld, creator of Deadpool, voiced his opinion, suggesting that Kevin Feige should step down from his role as CEO of Marvel Studios.

The latest release from Marvel Studios experienced a significant decrease of about 68% in box office earnings compared to the previous week. Regrettably, this pattern places the film among three others – “The Marvels” with a 78% drop and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” with an almost identical 68% decline.

Taking his emotions to X, Rob Liefeld posted, “Get Feige off the mound. He’s spent.”

In a subsequent post, the originator of Deadpool (often referred to as The Merc with a Mouth) pointed out that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently experiencing an “extended slump.” Referring to this major decline that goes beyond the usual fluctuations, Rob Liefeld suggested that this situation has become the norm for the studio.

In simpler terms, Liefeld suggested that if these were sports situations, Feige might face dismissal. He drew an analogy between Marvel Studios and iconic sports franchises like the Dodgers, Lakers, Yankees, Celtics, where coaches are sometimes let go after a year of underperforming or disappointing results.

Later, he posed a question to his audience as to why they didn’t prefer superior films following the destruction of 8 productions.

For people who might not know, during the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, Rob Liefeld stated that Feige chose to overlook him. In an episode of his podcast called “Robservations,” he further explained that neither he nor his family received an invitation to the film’s afterparty, and pictures taken with him on the red carpet were later erased.
