Spectators of the Netflix drama Adolescence found it intriguing to see Brad Pitt mentioned among the production team. This A-list actor is actually one of the executive producers of this crime series.
The four-part series directed by Philip Barantini debuted last week, sparking quite a buzz – not only due to its tense narrative and exceptional acting, but also because of Brad Pitt’s surprising participation in the project.
The movie titled “Adolescence” narrates the tale of Jamie Miller, a character portrayed by Owen Cooper, who happens to be a teen and is detained under suspicion of murdering a fellow student. This gripping, single-take drama has held viewers spellbound, but some were taken aback when Brad Pitt’s name surfaced in the ending credits.
There was a flurry of discussion on social media, as people wondered if it was actually the famous actor or merely someone else with the same name who was associated with the project. However, it was later confirmed that Brad Pitt, indeed, had a role in the production through his company, Plan B Entertainment, which teamed up with Warp Films and Matriarch Productions to co-produce the show.
Even though Brad Pitt isn’t physically present in the show, his influence off-screen significantly impacted its development. As Director Philip Barantini revealed to Radio Times, “Brad was always on the phone with us, and his enthusiasm was palpable.
Established in 2001 by Brad Pitt, along with Brad Grey, Kristin Hahn, and Jennifer Aniston, Plan B Entertainment boasts an impressive portfolio of films. This company is responsible for producing critically-acclaimed movies like ‘Mickey 17’, ‘Eat, Pray, Love’, ‘Troy’, ‘Moonlight’, ’12 Years a Slave’, and numerous others.
In only four short days, Adolescence managed to attract a staggering 24.3 million viewers, and there’s already clamor for a second season. As of now, Netflix hasn’t made an official announcement about renewal, but industry insiders hint that the show’s success has left executives quite satisfied.
Reports suggest that upcoming seasons might adopt a similar structure, focusing on various adolescent topics. A source shared with The Sun, “Executives are ecstatic about Adolescence’s performance. They believe this format has potential for continuation, delving into a new teen issue in each season. The show strikes a chord with audiences as it touches upon parents’ deepest concerns, providing ample opportunities for further exploration.
Currently streaming on Netflix, the series titled “Adolescence” features acting talents such as Owen Cooper, Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters, and Erin Doherty in leading roles.
