Why Invincible Season 3 Is a Major Disappointment

Initially, I had anticipated that following the disappointing Season 2, particularly its split format, they would enhance Season 3 to match the exceptional first season. Regrettably, up until now, Invincible Season 3 has fallen short. It’s been sluggish, overflowing with filler content, and rather dull.

In older times, comics penned by Brian Michael Bendis were often referred to as “dialogue-heavy” due to their frequent use of character dialogues instead of action or visual elements. The third season of Invincible seems to share this characteristic.

My teenager greatly enjoyed the initial season, found the second one less appealing, and feels the same way about Season 3. He criticizes that around 40% of it consists solely of Eve and Mark discussing on the rooftop. Additionally, he remarks that each episode portrays Mark suffering frequent beatings. Admittedly, there’s some truth to his observations.

You know what else Invincible reminds me of? The Walking Dead.

Initially, the first season was an exciting spectacle that couldn’t be missed. However, as the series progressed, it seemed that most episodes were unnecessary, lacking substantial content. This may have been the reason why viewers eventually lost interest.

In essence, Season 3 of Invincible is quite uneventful. I recently expressed this sentiment to Robert Kirkman, the series creator, stating that it seems like nothing but repetitive dialogue and action without much substance or development.

With just three episodes remaining, can you summarize what has transpired thus far? Well, Mark departed from the GDA and Oliver matured into an adult. Essentially, that’s all that has occurred so far.

I’m not interested in discussing Debbie and Paul’s relationship, or any other romantic relationships for that matter. I don’t feel the need to hear opinions on Mark’s supposed views towards Black people or his relationship with Eve, as it doesn’t concern me. As for Amber’s love life and who makes dinner, those topics also hold no significance for me.

What I enjoy most about this show is the scenes featuring Omni-Man and Allen the Alien in outer space; however, these scenes have only appeared as brief, concluding moments in a single episode.

It seems you’re implying that they’ll return to Earth in the final episode, only to face another long wait for new episodes due to the slow production process of the animation. Meanwhile, it’s interesting to note that Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes manages to produce 26 episodes annually, and cartoons from my childhood even exceeded that pace.

Regarding the animation, I couldn’t help but notice that Episode 5 seemed a bit unusual. It caught my attention, and it seems others have noticed too, commenting about today’s release on X. Once again, it was Eve who stole the show with her impressive feats, while poor Mark found himself on the receiving end of another beating.

One issue I’ve noticed is that Season 3 seems repetitive by reusing old plotlines and recurring villains. It feels like we’re experiencing another instance of Future Imperfect, the return of Mole Man, the Blood Brothers, Kingpin, Fing Fang Foom – it’s all becoming quite monotonous.

At what point will we reach the interesting parts? The series seems to be dragging on with unnecessary details, making viewers eagerly anticipate the action. There appears to be an overabundance of background information that doesn’t seem relevant to most viewers.
