As a die-hard fan, I’m practically buzzing with anticipation! The long-awaited sequel to the 1988 classic “Beetlejuice” is almost here, and it’s sending shivers of excitement down my spine! With Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder gracing our screens once more, it feels like a dream come true. Before the movie hits theaters, Ryder gave an exclusive interview with Slash Films, offering tantalizing glimpses into what her character has in store for us viewers.
The veteran actress also revealed what she had expected of Lydia before signing up for the film.
During an interview with the media outlet, the actress stated that she had never envisioned Lydia being involved in a romantic relationship or having a teenage child. She went on to say, ” Frankly, I never imagined Lydia would have children or be in any sort of relationship. I always believed she’d just spend her time immersed in her own world as she grew older, perhaps secluded in the attic, content but solitary.”
Furthermore, the actress discussed her relationship with Jenna Ortega, portraying Astrid (Lydia’s daughter) in the upcoming film. Additionally, Justin Theroux was added to the cast, taking on the role of Lydia’s romantic interest.
Regarding her relationship with the new performers, Ryder stated, “I believe it was when Jenna and I connected, and then when Justin joined us…”
She added, “To be honest, at my age, we’ve all been in situations where we question our relationships. Looking back, old me wonders, ‘What was I thinking?’ However, I can’t imagine young Lydia anticipating this moment, standing before the camera.”
In a departure from the initial movie, the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel will take place with some time gap. This new storyline revolves around the character Beetlejuice, who miraculously comes back to life when Astrid utters his name three times, despite her mother’s refusal.
