As a die-hard Queens of the Stone Age fan who has followed their journey for over two decades, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing about Josh Homme’s ongoing health issues and the subsequent cancellation and rescheduling of their 2024 tour dates.
Due to ongoing health concerns of their lead singer, Josh Homme (who was diagnosed with cancer in 2022), Queens of the Stone Age have had to postpone and reschedule their upcoming tour dates for 2024. The band shared this news on their social media platforms, stating that Homme requires focus on his health and will undergo essential medical treatment throughout the year.
“In a statement, QOTSA shared that they are sadly forced to either cancel or reschedule all their remaining 2024 concerts due to Josh’s need to focus on his health. This involves undergoing necessary medical treatment throughout the year.”
The following shows have been postponed and rescheduled to 2025:
- September 27 and 28 in Boston
- October 1 in Cincinnati
- October 2 in Chicago
- October 4 in Madison, Wisconsin
The band also announced the cancellation of the following dates:
- September 29 in Bridgeport, Connecticut
- October 6 in Memphis
- November 17 in Mexico City
Festival attendees are encouraged to check the official event pages regularly for the latest updates, as the band mentioned. For those who purchased tickets to QOTSA concerts, you’ll receive additional details regarding rescheduled dates from your original ticket vendor.
Back in June 2023, Josh Homme disclosed that he was diagnosed with cancer the year prior. In an interview with Revolver, he shared that he had undergone a surgery to remove the cancer, though he opted against providing additional information then.
Due to an urgent surgical procedure in the U.S., the band’s world tour was interrupted in July 2023, resulting in the cancellation and rescheduling of eight performances.
Because of Homme’s health problems, Queens of the Stone Age have chosen to delay their scheduled tour in August. The band expressed their gratitude for your support and the time we shared together over the past year, as stated in their announcement. “We hope to reunite with you all again in 2025,” they added.
Back in 2023, I was absolutely thrilled to be a dedicated fan as Queens of the Stone Age unveiled their eighth masterpiece, “In Times New Roman..”. This album marked a significant milestone for the band, tracing back to their debut in ’98 and has been a cornerstone in their illustrious career. It even managed to secure eight Grammy nominations!
During an interview in December 2023 with the Los Angeles Times, Homme shared his thoughts about the album and his creative approach, stating, “It’s becoming increasingly challenging as I strive for authenticity and exposure, wondering, ‘How exposed can I get?'”
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must share some news that might have left some music fans feeling a bit down – the tour has been called off. However, let me assure you, the band’s top priority at this moment is ensuring the well-being of their beloved member, Homme, and giving him all the time he needs to fully recover. The good news? We now have rescheduled dates set for 2025, offering fans the incredible opportunity to witness the band live once Homme is back in top form. So, while we wait, let’s keep the music alive and show our support for Homme’s recovery – it will be worth the wait!
