Why Did John Legend End His Friendship with Kanye West? Truth Revealed

John Legend discussed the point when he perceived a change in Kanye West, several years prior to the rapper’s widely publicized disputes. In a recent conversation with The Times, published on May 10th, the artist behind “All of Me” shared insights about their friendship that ended in 2022. According to Legend, he observed a change in West’s mental health following the passing of his mother, Donda West, in 2007.

He remarked that, while we might not be equipped to delve into his psychological background, it’s clear that something changed for him following the loss of his mother in 2007. Since then, it appears his circumstances have taken a turn for the worse, and they seem to have worsened more rapidly as of late.

It was made clear by the award-winning artist that his relationship with Kanye West (now referred to as Ye) is no more, primarily because of their contrasting political beliefs. West’s backing of former President Donald Trump significantly contributed to their estrangement.

As a lifestyle expert, I must admit that maintaining our bond became increasingly challenging for me. West’s contentious viewpoints and online conduct, particularly his recent fixations on antisemitism and anti-Blackness, were significant factors contributing to this difficulty. It’s heartbreaking to witness his transformation from what we knew before into something quite different.

In a recent statement, John Legend – who joined Kanye West’s record label G.O.O.D. Music back in 2004 – expressed that he no longer identifies with the person Kanye West currently is.

He remembered how West was filled with passion, talent, and ambitious aspirations not only for himself, but also for those around him back then. It’s heartbreaking and surprising at times to see his current state, as legend would put it.

For quite some time now, I’ve been a devoted follower, but it’s hard to ignore the controversy that surrounds West. His years of public life have been marked by comments perceived as antisemitic, derogatory towards Black people, and explosive online outbursts – even extending to attacks on his former spouse, Kim Kardashian.

Recently, following the reemergence of an old clip in which John Legend labeled Donald Trump as a ‘supporter of white supremacy,’ MAGA advocates expressed criticism towards him. These Trump backers went on to accuse the musician of being both ‘racist’ and ‘hypocritical.’

Regardless, Legend remained firm with his initial statements and kept his distance from West, who’s been generating headlines due to controversy. Notably, Kanye West seems to have acknowledged separation from his spouse, Bianca Censori, in a new track called “BIANCA” on his album WW3.
