In her court papers, Thiam stated that the separation date is yet to be determined (TBD), implying that the situation has been evolving slowly.
The couple have a 17-year-old daughter called Journey. The singer’s partner is asking for joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their child. She also wants to have visitation rights with Akon. Apart from custody matters, she’s also asking the court for spousal support. Interestingly, she’s requesting that Akon be denied any spousal support claims. This has generated more public interest, particularly given the current circumstances.
