According to a note that was probably scribbled on a napkin and later polished by the fine folks at Bloomberg, the analysts, led by the ever-optimistic David Kostin, predict that American households will be the main buyers of equities, trailing only behind corporations, which are expected to splurge a whopping $675 billion. To add a cherry on top of this financial sundae, analysts revealed that Americans, on average, allocate a jaw-dropping 49% of their total financial assets to equities. That’s the highest level on record, just edging out the previous high of 48% set in 2020. Meanwhile, our friends in the euro area are only tossing 10% of their assets into stocks, and the Japanese are at a mere 13%.
