In the season finale of Netflix’s fresh music competition series, Building The Band, which was released on July 23rd, the first champions were announced. The winning group, 3Quency, consists of Nori Moore, Wennely Quezada, and Brianna Mazzola, and they took home the title along with a grand prize of USD 500,000.
In the grand finale, the three performers captivated judges Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Rowland, and the late Liam Payne with their take on Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby.” They emerged victorious over finalists SZN4, the show’s sole mixed-gender band consisting of Donzell Taggart, Aaliyah Rose, Cameron Goode, and Katie Roeder.
How did 3Quency win the competition?
In the final episode, Judge Nicole Scherzinger commended the group’s advancement and vitality, stating, “They’ve demonstrated their readiness to us.” She further added, “This is a band that has impressively grown, the one that gave it their all tonight.
3Quency quickly established themselves as a stable unit and maintained their harmony throughout the series. Their synergy emerged as a significant advantage. “Once we found our groove with three, we were always open to adjustments, but three just seemed so right. Our bond felt incredibly strong,” Brianna Mazzola shared with USA TODAY before the finale.
The judges offered the team crucial suggestions that contributed to their success. Scherzinger recommended keeping steady eye contact, Payne motivated them to assert their stage presence, and Rowland suggested taking deep breaths.
Nori Moore discussed their methods of maintaining contact post-filming. “We’ve been maintaining a long-distance friendship,” she explained, mentioning that they kept in touch via Facetime movie sessions, joint vacations, and regular conversations.
SZN4’s emotional performance moved the judges
3Quency emerged victorious, but SZN4 delivered a moving rendition of Rag’n’Bone Man’s Human that left judges and host AJ McLean tearful. Kelly Rowland forecasted their win, expressing mid-episode her belief they were the favorites. However, 3Quency’s consistent performance and strong chemistry ultimately clinched the victory for them.
