In the forthcoming Hulu series, The Testaments – a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale – has cast Lucy Halliday for a significant part. Halliday will embody Daisy, one of the primary characters from Margaret Atwood’s novel, as reported by Hollywood Reporter.
15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, we find ourselves following the story of Daisy, a Canadian teen, as she uncovers her link to the enigmatic nation of Gilead.
Halliday becomes part of an ensemble featuring Chase Infiniti as Agnes and Ann Dowd, who’ll once again portray Aunt Lydia from The Handmaid’s Tale. This production is being crafted by Hulu and MGM Television, the same team behind The Handmaid’s Tale.
As a devoted admirer, I’m eagerly anticipating “The Testaments,” a series inspired by Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel that clinched the Booker Prize. Interestingly, Hulu and MGM had already secured the rights to this book even before it hit the shelves. Over the years, the production of this series has been in the works, with Bruce Miller, the genius behind “The Handmaid’s Tale,” steering the project.
In the last season of The Handmaid’s Tale, Miller relinquished his role as the showrunner to concentrate on The Testaments. Nevertheless, he continues to be part of the production team in an executive producer capacity.
Warren Littlefield and Steve Stark, along with their roles as executive producers on The Handmaid’s Tale, are included in the group that is breathing life into The Testaments.
Lucy Halliday, an up-and-coming actress, first appeared on the big screen in the 2022 British drama “Blue Jean.” Her exceptional acting in this film garnered her a BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actress and a nomination for a British Independent Film Award. Furthermore, she is scheduled to play a leading role in “California Schemin’,” which marks the directorial debut of actor James McAvoy.
It’s still unknown when Hulu plans to release “The Testaments,” but with auditions completed, filming is anticipated to start soon. This series will delve further into the narrative of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” offering fresh viewpoints on Gilead and its rebellion.
