The deceased musician captivated audiences with his intricate yet witty lyrics and his innovative approach to character development. Born in Boston in 1952, Finn had a passion for theater. In an interview with Tablet, he disclosed that his first play was penned as a project for Hebrew school.

Fin openly admitted his ignorance about the situation, further expressing his dismay by stating, “I can assure you, it’s terrible. I wasn’t capable of composing plays, and my Hebrew skills were quite weak. So, I question the quality.

As a dedicated follower of the arts, I’m particularly renowned for the three musical masterpieces that bear my name—In Trousers, March of the Falsettos, and Falsettoland. These captivating productions revolve around an intriguing character named Marvin, who embarks on a life-changing journey. He leaves his spouse to explore a relationship with a man, only to eventually find understanding, acceptance, and reconciliation within his family and personal identity. Remarkably, all three of these musicals graced the stage at Playwright Horizons, as reported by The New York Times.

Subsequently, “March of the Falsettos” and “Falsettoland” were merged into a single production titled “Falsettos”, which made its Broadway debut in 1992. This musical went on to win two Tony Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, which he co-authored with James Lapine.

During his illustrious career, he was not only celebrated for his inspiring work but also received accolades for other pieces such as “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, “A New Brain”, and a musical interpretation of the Little Miss Sunshine movie.
