Veteran actor Tom Troupe, recognized for his roles in Cheers, Star Trek, and over 75 television shows, has sadly passed away at the age of 97. He breathed his last on Sunday morning at his Beverly Hills residence, five days after celebrating his birthday. His passing, due to natural causes, was officially confirmed by his public relations team.

Tom Troupe, born on July 15, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, embarked on his acting career from community theater. In 1948, he moved to New York City, studying at the Herbert Berghof Studio under Uta Hagen, thanks to a scholarship. Later, during the Korean War, he was honored with the Bronze Star, as reported by Variety.
In 1957, Troupe first appeared on Broadway as Peter van Daan in The Diary of Anne Frank, sharing the stage with Joseph Schildkraut. Then, by moving to Los Angeles in the following year, he embarked on a flourishing career in television and cinema.
During the 60s to the 90s, Troupe graced numerous renowned television series. Some of his notable roles were in Star Trek, The Fugitive, Mission: Impossible, The Wild, Wild West, Mary Hartman, Cagney & Lacey, CHiPs, Knots Landing, Murder, She Wrote, Cheers, Frasier, and Archie Bunker’s Place. His screen appearances were marked by a trustworthy charm and high level of professionalism in both guest spots and recurring roles.

This troupe was involved in significant movies such as The Big Fisherman, The Devil’s Brigade, Kelly’s Heroes, Summer School, and My Own Private Idaho on the silver screen.
In the world of theater, it was common to see him sharing the stage with his spouse, Carole Cook, in plays like The Gin Game, The Lion in Winter, and Fathers’ Day. He also embarked on tours with Same Time Next Year, partnering with Barbara Rush, and graced Broadway alongside Mia Farrow in Romantic Comedy. One of his own creative endeavors was co-writing and starring in the one-man play The Diary of a Madman.
Actor Troupe was wedded to actress Carole Cook until her death in 2023 at the age of 98. Throughout their long relationship, spanning on and off stage, they were greatly appreciated by many. He leaves behind his son, Christopher Troupe; daughter-in-law, Becky Coulter; granddaughter, Ashley Troupe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
