On Tuesday morning, Samuel French tragically lost his life in Waco, Texas. At the time of his unfortunate demise, he was 45 years old. For a number of years, he courageously battled against cancer.
French was raised in Clifton, Texas, starting at the age of three, as his family moved there from their original location. His birthdate is January 26, 1980.
Initially, he relocated to Austin, followed by Dallas, with the aim of pursuing an acting career. Eventually, he had the privilege of acting alongside Robert De Niro in “Killers of the Flower Moon.
French initially delved into acting through appearances in the mini-series Texas Rising and Fear the Walking Dead, portraying the character Ben in both productions.
He is most recognized for portraying undercover FBI agent CJ Robinson in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. His other acting roles can be found in films such as Blood Dried Hands, Pegasus: A Broken-Winged Pony, The Pro Bono Watchman, and others.
In the upcoming crime drama “Towpath,” his recent work can be seen, where he plays the role of Detective Bernard Crooke. This production, helmed by director and writer Paul Sinacore, is scheduled to hit screens towards the end of this year.
In simpler terms, Sinacore described French as a passionate collaborator whose acting in Towpath significantly shaped the film’s mood and intensity. He labeled French’s on-screen presence as raw, eerie, and deeply committed. His dedication and enthusiasm in every scene were certainly evident.
In my perspective, I deeply admire French’s unwavering enthusiasm towards his craft, an admiration that resonated profoundly with my peers. It was truly disheartening to know that French wouldn’t get a chance to see the finished Towpath project of which he had been such a significant part.
Samuel was not only a cherished friend but also an exceptional performer, as Sinacore expressed on Instagram. They embarked on an extraordinary creative journey together, pouring all their efforts into bringing a shared vision to life. The production of ‘Towpath’ would have been impossible without him and the remarkable passion he infused into his role.
He commented, “[French] dedicated himself entirely to the project, and it was evident. I’m profoundly sorrowful over his passing and can only imagine how proud he would be of the finished product. Unique in every sense, he will live on in our memories eternally.
Beyond my renowned career, I’d like to highlight a lesser-known aspect of my life – my deep devotion as a father, particularly towards my cherished daughter. My friends and acquaintances often recall the affectionate way I would discuss her, filled with both love and pride.
The passing of French is a tremendous grief for the acting community, as he was greatly respected for his talent and perseverance. As of now, arrangements for Samuel French’s funeral remain undisclosed.
