As a lifestyle expert who has followed the journey of various personalities in the automotive world, I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Rob “Rabbit” Pitts, a beloved figure from Tex Mex Motors on Netflix. At just 45 years old, his life was cut tragically short due to stomach cancer.
Sadly, Robert “Rabbit” Pitts, known for his role in Tex Mex Motors, passed away on August 25 at the age of 45. His death has been confirmed by Jeff, his videographer, according to Deadline.
Upon his passing, he shared a heartfelt message through a YouTube video titled “This Is Goodbye” (Rest in Peace 7/27/79-8/25/24). In this poignant video, it was disclosed that Pitts had been experiencing unusual symptoms last year following the car show in Las Vegas, and he subsequently lost weight.
In the video, it was mentioned that he was preparing to shoot Season 2 of Tex Mex Motors for Netflix. He didn’t find it too bothersome that he needed to get camera-ready.
During the production of the Netflix series, the motor specialist explained that he gradually lost his appetite and experienced symptoms similar to acid reflux several times. He visited urgent care on numerous occasions, but was unable to identify or address the underlying cause of these issues.
Jamie, a fellow actor with Pitt, believed he was experiencing gallbladder-related issues and thus took him to the emergency room. It wasn’t until March that doctors discovered he had stomach cancer.
Pitts shared that they’re receiving treatment at home and described it as “tough.” This can also be expressed as: “I’m having more difficult days than good ones, but I’m managing. There’s a lot in life that I cherish, and things have been going well for me. Please don’t feel sad for me… I achieved my dream of owning my store, wrapped up Season 2 of (Tex Mex Motors), and married the person I love most.”
For those not familiar, the motor show mentioned earlier made its debut on Netflix in June 2023. The story revolves around Pitts and Marcos “Scooter” Carrera, who embarked on a journey to find classic cars in Mexico and restored them at their workshop located in El Paso, Texas.
Carrera posted on Instagram to honor Pitts, sharing two heartfelt posts. In one of the posts, he published a pair of spontaneous photos featuring both him and Pitts.
The second post contained two pictures as well where both of them stood beside one another and posed as they leaned on what appeared to be a vehicle. He captions this post with, “It’s with a heavy heart that I write about the passing of my cast member & friend ROB ‘RABBIT’ PITTS. Rest In Peace Brother, I’m going to really miss you!!!”
As reported by People Magazine, the individual is left behind by his wife Randi Foraker and Kim Pitts, as well as his mother.
