Who was Perry Kurtz? Exploring America’s Got Talent Star’s Comedy Career As He Passes Away At 73

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the arts, I am deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Perry Kurtz, a comedic talent whose career spanned decades and touched countless lives. From his early days performing improv comedy with Robin Williams to his more recent appearances on shows like America’s Got Talent and The Tonight Show, Perry left an indelible mark on the comedy world.

Sadly, Los Angeles-based comedian Perry Kurtz, recognized by many in the city, has tragically passed away at the age of 73. A car, specifically a gray Honda Civic, is said to have struck him. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m., and unfortunately, emergency services confirmed his death at the site of the accident.

As I was making my way along Ventura Boulevard, one of its main thoroughfares, an unidentified vehicle hit me from behind and sped off without stopping, based on what LAPD reported to me.

Dante Rusciolelli shared profound sorrow with People, describing Perry as a significant figure in the comedy world who he had known since 1987. He explained to the media outlet that Perry was not just a client, but a friend for many years. For decades, Perry was a well-known fixture in the Los Angeles comedy scene and his absence will be felt deeply. Rusciolelli also conveyed his sympathies to Perry’s family members.

In the eighth season of America’s Got Talent, Kurtz made an appearance, delivering a unique blend of stand-up comedy and rap. During his performance, he referenced judges Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howard Stern. Additionally, he gained visibility on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Late Show with James Corden.

Previously, he showcased improv comedy alongside Robin Williams in San Francisco. Later, he moved south and established himself as a frequent act at the renowned Comedy Store in Hollywood. To this day, he continues to engage his audience on social media platforms such as YouTube, where he has close to 2,000 subscribers.

5 days before his passing, he had posted his final video on his channel, where he was seen playing “I’ll Always Remember Us This Way” at The Barrel Tavern in Sherman Oaks, CA. His channel included recent uploads of live music performances and multiple stand-up comedy acts.

11:30 p.m. saw a tragic incident occur, and paramedics arrived shortly after to confirm Kurtz had already passed away upon arrival. The suspect managed to flee before law enforcement arrived at the scene, but was eventually captured in his residence by authorities on August 16th around dawn. They identified him as Nathon Jaimes, an 18-year-old individual.

In my line of work, I’ve had to confront situations where an individual finds themselves in a serious predicament, such as the one involving a hit-and-run incident resulting in a fatality. The authorities discovered the abandoned vehicle connected to this crash near the scene. However, it remains uncertain if the person under scrutiny has sought legal representation at this time.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office is performing an investigation to better understand the circumstances surrounding Perry Kurtz’s passing.
