11-year-old Millena Brandão, a renowned Brazilian child actress and model recognized for her role in Netflix’s Sintonia, tragically passed away on May 2nd. While several sources suggest that she experienced multiple heart attacks, the precise cause of her demise remains undetermined at this time.

On the 24th of April, Brandão’s mother, Thays Brandão, reported to Brazilian news outlet G1 that their child actress had been experiencing severe headaches, leg pains, fatigue, and a lack of appetite. During her first hospital visit, doctors initially diagnosed her with dengue fever and sent her home without conducting any tests. However, they returned to the hospital two days later on the 26th of April, but were again discharged without receiving a definitive diagnosis.

Her health deteriorated significantly, leading to a fainting spell at home on April 28th. Shortly after being transported to the hospital, Millena suffered a cardiac arrest the following morning and was kept alive with life support systems. Her mother explained that she turned pale and then blue, they attempted resuscitation and intubation, but from that day forward, she did not regain consciousness.

After a CT scan, a 5-centimeter growth was discovered in her brain, yet no neuro specialist could be found immediately to ascertain if it was a tumor, cyst, swelling, or clot.

For several consecutive days, Millena experienced a total of thirteen instances of cardiac arrest. Regrettably, doctors determined that she was brain-dead, and her parents faced the heartbreaking choice to discontinue life support.

According to her mother’s recollection, her health deteriorated significantly, with two to three instances of cardiac arrest each day. In total, she experienced 13 such incidents, which was a first for her. One particularly challenging day saw her endure seven respiratory arrests. As the situation grew dire, we decided to turn off the life support machines to prevent further suffering for both her and us.

On May 3, she expressed her daughter’s passing in a heartfelt Instagram post, accompanied by a picture showing Millena with wings like an angel and a halo.

Brandão gained recognition through her work on the soap opera “The Childhood of Romeo and Juliet” and the Netflix series “Sintonia”. She has also collaborated with modeling agencies and participated in various advertising projects for different brands.
