52-year-old actor Jan Schwieterman, known for his role in the 1997 movie Good Burger (aired on Nickelodeon), has tragically passed away. His family shared this sad news through their social media platforms.

On February 28, 2025, Schwieterman passed away at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri, following a long struggle against advanced cancer. It was reported that he had been diagnosed with a particularly aggressive type of the illness. His funeral took place on March 4, 2025.

1972 saw the birth of Schwieterman in Indiana. Subsequently, he embarked on an acting career. Post his high school graduation, he relocated to California, where he landed his debut TV role in McKenna (1994). Over time, he made appearances as a guest star on hit TV series like ER, Felicity, Forever, and others.

In his debut leading role, he appeared in the Brian Robbins-directed movie “Good Burger” where he portrayed Kurt Bozwell, the scheming manager of Mondo Burger, a competitor to Kenan Thompson’s Dexter and Kel Mitchell’s Ed at the Good Burger eatery. The film eventually gained cult status, with Schwieterman’s memorable portrayal as an ideal adversary. In November 2023, Paramount+ launched a sequel to the Nickelodeon film known as “Good Burger 2”.

Additionally, Schwieterman graced various films like Warlock III: The End of Innocence (1999), American Intellectuals (1999), Fallen Arches (2000), and others. His last notable film role was in Along the Way (2007), directed by Andrew Bowen, where he portrayed Michael Braga.

After his sad demise, his brother Chad Schwieterman expressed on Facebook, “With deep sorrow, I announce the death of my beloved brother, Jan (JP) Schwieterman. He was diagnosed with a severe, rapid-progressing Stage 4 cancer and departed this world last night.

He said, “Could you kindly hold our family in your contemplations and well-wishes during these challenging days? May you find tranquility, my dear departed brother. You’re deeply cherished and sorely missed by us all.

Jan Schwieterman is mourned by his family members which include his parents, LeeRoy Schwieterman and Clara Reed, along with his brothers and sisters, as well as his nieces and nephews.
